    Carried.
  2. Change the Groups' Names:
         Wayfarers keep the same name
         Intermediates - MODERATES
         Generals - HARD RIDERS.

    An amendment was accepted - That the name of the Wayfarers also be changed.

  3. That the Woking Wayfarers change to mostly morning-only rides and that it be accepted that the other groups slow down temporarily as riders changed groups.  An amendment to the motion was accepted by those present:  That lunch destinations be given on the Runs List but that the Runs List should also point out that it was not guaranteed that runs would get to their stated lunch destination.  In the absence of the original proposer of the motion the matter was referred to the Committee for decision.

Any Other Business

It was generally agreed that the 50-mile reliability ride should revert to the former earlier start times of 8 to 9 a.m. so that it would finish in time for lunch at a pub.
The Committee had not known of any act daft enough to merit award of the Wooden Crank and asked the meeting for suggestions.  There were none.

Commemoration of Bill Inder

It was agreed to run a special ride using the route around Surrey in Bill's article in 'Cycletouring'.

Motion

That the DA's riding groups be organised so that:

  1. Each group holds a meeting in October or November to choose a leader for the following year;
  2. Each group chooses its own rides but meets with the other groups at tea when convenient.
It shall be the responsibility of the leader of each group to ensure the timely preparation of the quarterly lists of rides for that group.  In order to facilitate (ii.) above, the leader of the Hardriders group shall distribute a list of the group's start and tea places to the other group leaders not less than six weeks before the first ride listed.

An amendment was accepted, that the DA would look into constituting the groups as formal sections.  The amended motion was carried.

  2. That the WSDA establish a group, on the same basis as its other riding groups, for co-ordinating the participation of its riders in events organised by other DAs and Clubs.  Eventually an amended motion was agreed:  That the duties of co-ordinating the participation of riders in events organised by other DAs and clubs be added to the duties of the Runs Secretary.
  3. That the WSDA rules are amended to provide for the formation and management of sections as in the 'Minimum DA Rules' specified by the CTC nationally, and that the Guildford and Godalming CTC Group should become a Section of the West Surrey District Association.  After some discussion the proposer of the motion, Chris Juden, agreed to discuss the matter less formally with the Committee.  Nevertheless, some members insisted on a vote, in which the motion was narrowly defeated.
