Newsletter No. 1

This newsletter is the first of many, it is hoped, written with the aim of improving communication between members of the DA.  It seems a good idea to start with a list of the committee members elected at the Annual General Meeting on 6 November:-

President Bill Inder, 33 High Street, Horsell (Woking 72074)
Vice-President Don Field, 13 Silver Birch Close, Woodham (Byfleet 41470)
Secretary Harold Coleman, Lane End, Highlands Lane, Westfield (Woking 60385)
Treasurer George Alesbury, 12 Spencer Avenue, Weybridge (W 43285)
Runs Secretary Russ Mantle, 68 Haig Road, Aldershot (Aldershot 28275)
Others Clement Collins, 8 Staff Cottages, Milford Chest Hospital (Godalming 29605)
Chris Jeggo, 4 Carlyon Close, Mytchett (Farnborough 46472)
Keith Parfitt, 24 Elmside, Onslow Village (Guildford 60776)
Les Sutton, 62 Chobham Road, Ottershaw

They will be pleased to help you on any matter related to cycling and the DA, and hope that this Newsletter will prove to be more than a means of letting you know what goes on in Committee meetings, that you will use it to put your own ideas forward.  The Editor welcomes your contributions (space permitting).

1978 is not only the CTC's 100th Birthday, but also the DA's 50th, so next year's calendar includes one or two special events.

The YHA is also celebrating 100 years of cycling, and Southern Region is organising 10 weekends for cyclists:-

Booking well in advance is required for some of these events.

More material is needed for the March slide show.  Please contact Harold Coleman if you have any old photographs, slides, drawings, films, etc:  they will be gratefully received and returned in good condition.  Also, an episcope, or epidiascope, is urgently needed for this evening.  Can you help?  *  Keith Parfitt would welcome volunteers from the Guildford area to help publicise cycling or to help lead half-day Saturday rides for newcomers.
