D.A.NEWSLETTER NUMBER 39

This newsletter promises to be shorter than No.38 (sighs of relief allround ) mainly because now is the time to ignore paperwork and concentrate on getting out on some of the rides.

Chris Jeggo's forthcoming house move has created a vacancy for a local network officer in the Frimley/Camberley area.  The job consists of keeping an eye on local planning moves which may affect cyclists and attending approx 4 council planning meetings a year.  If you're interested in protecting our interests and in planning please contact me or Chris at Club nights.

TECHNICAL TIPS  Two for the price of one this month;  an empty Kodak 35mm film can makes a perfect container for a blob of handcleaner (Swarfega etc. ) and weighs very little.  On longer tours use a second container to carry grease.

If you use modern Ever Ready front lamps the illuminated perspex rim is good in well lit areas for checking your light is on but causes excessive dazzle in darker unlit conditions.  So if you're coming on the night ride (9/10 June) tape it over and see where you're going.

BED & BREAKFAST We happened on this delightful place when riding our tandem home after a trip to Yorkshire. The Olde Mill House is a 250 year old mill converted into a most comfortable family home.  It is situated in the Belvoir Valley at Redmile Leicestershire, ideal touring country and a perfect base for a weekend look around Rutland.  If you like old oak beams and log fires then this is for you. Cost around 15 pounds B&B plus dinner which includes wine! Telephone Bottesford 42460.
