The Keith Parfitt Pot
This trophy commemorates Keith Parfitt, a leading light in the DA from the early 1970s until his untimely death in June 1997. He served as DA secretary, treasurer and committee member (over 20 years in total) and as a CTC national councillor; he organised events and publicity, campaigned on behalf of cyclists, led rides, including many rides for youngsters, and he started the DA clubroom at Guildford Rowing Club in 1980 and ran it for the entire 13 years it operated. In all this he was ably assisted by his wife Kath.
It was originally awarded to the youngest rider under 16 years of age who completed the West Surrey 50 mile event in under 5 hours on a solo bicycle (“The West Surrey Cyclist” - April - June 1998).
It is currently awarded for the highest number of points for organising and marshalling Benstead Cup events.
