It has been a successful year for increasing our scope for the existing groups and introducing new groups in the riding activities.
D.A. members have been entering into the D.A.T.C./AUDAX spirit throughout the year, enjoying themselves, travelling to many places.
Our own 'Benstead Cup Events' have attracted more riders, inside and outside the West Surrey area.
We must not forget the campaigning work that members undertake; reports later in the report.
Also some sad news about our President, Bill Inder. He died this year but his contribution to the cycling world will never be forgotten.
The Sunday rides are our main activity but these are supported by other kinds of riding groups.
Also starting this year are rides in the Farnham area, 2ND week in the month. Our thanks to them for taking on this extra commitment. Nicky and Terry are happy to lead rides in the Chertsey, Egham and Staines areas.
We must not forget the established evening rides, this year led by Chris and Helena.
We welcome Sally and friends to the D.A. They have started a Junior Section, the first ride took place on March 28TH 9.30 starting from the car park near the Onslow Arms.
The group continues to flourish and maintains a slow but steady increase in the numbers attending.
Average number for year ending 30TH September 1992 was 10 with a highest turnout of 18.
All regular riders are expected to take responsibility for leading runs and to choose a destination for lunch when listed to do so, only the elevenses venue being pre-selected.
The only change in the riding groups has taken place in the Wayfarers:
MORNING ONLY RIDES - MOST SUNDAYS - Woking members and newcomers.
INFORMAL RIDES AVAILABLE IN STAINES, CHERTSEY & EGHAM AREA.
RIDES SOUTH OF GUILDFORD - these are flexible, only the start and elevenses being pre-selected.
Our thanks to members and friends in providing coffee and tea stops, it all helps to make the cycling trip even more enjoyable.

The clubroom - every 4 weeks - is organised by Rory and Keith. A social event was held last November (9TH) 'A Barn Dance' enjoyable evening, live music thanks to Liza and friend.
Information for anyone thinking of organising a social event, this clubroom is available (free) 4 Saturdays during year - usually not problems with booking - use this facility while it is available.

Surrey Wildlife Trust says that the battle to protect the county's environment from MAJOR TRUNK ROAD DEVELOPMENTS, such as the M25 collector/distributor roads and widening of the A3 and M3, could take many years of campaigning activity.

The Sub-committee has met several times - Chris Juden will give a short verbal account today.
The D.A. has taken part in shows at Aldershot, Guildford and Farnham.
Jeremy, Rory and Keith have met once during this year, which resulted in a report being published, covering all aspects on publicity - useful document for next year's committee.
A separate runslist has been produced every quarter, which is incorporated in the magazine. Our thanks to Anne for producing a clear attractive runslist - please carry on the good work.

A busy year, with links being strengthened in the Farnham area and with Surrey Officers.

Members have also turned up at the Oxford CRN conference, supported the Rushmoor CTC Stand, and formally responded to the Surrey Structure Plan.
Other activities included designing individual tour sheets, and organising monthly rides on an experimental basis.
Finally, we managed a social with Godalming CRN members - more of that next year we hope!

The Godalming-based "West Surrey Cycle Planning Group" has striven to keep alive the issue of cycling in Godalming town centre, obtaining front page, picture and favourable report in the Surrey Advertiser (with a rush-hour demonstration of bikes enlarged to the size of cars with wooden frameworks!), but to little avail. The group is also watching carefully the council's intention to make some kind of route between Godalming and Guildford. On a more cheerful note, a flurry of letter writing by Sue Hall takes some of the credit for Network Southeast's rapid retraction of their regional blanket ban on tandem carriage.
