WEST SURREY DA NEWSLETTER
TOUR OF THE HILLS 4th AUGUST
The Tour of the Hills is being run by the DA on the 4th August. This event has increased in stature since its inception and entries this year are expected to break the 200 mark. It is an event which reflects upon the DAs reputation and helps our finances considerably. If you support the DA and are not riding the event, please volunteer to help marshal a turn or man a control. We have approx 16 volunteers already, a further 20 are needed!
In order to give the Tour of the Hills our best efforts no DA rides are being organised on the 4th Aug. so you've no excuse not to help. Club Night on 31st July will be given up to a final briefing on the event for all DA members helping out. Many of the jobs on the event will require only 1 or 2 hours of your time so please help. START NEWLANDS CORNER 1000 hrs - BARN CAFE.
PHOTOGRAPHERS NEEDED. If you're helping on the Tour of the Hills and can take a decent picture (especially in black and white) please try and get some shots for the DAs album, Cycletouring and the Press.
The Tour of Normandy was enjoyed by 19 DA riders including the President. No doubt you will hear many stories from the trip but why is George Aylesbury now known as 'The Rustle of Silk', why was I pushed by young ladies on my bad day, how did Helen Dodd and Hazel achieve Olympic kilometre qualifying times?? The answer to all these and many more stories are yours for a pint at the Clubroom!
The DA will shortly be putting on sale a magazine. Local firms are helping with print costs and now we need your letters and articles. Any items for inclusion in the first edition to me by end of May. Please mention the DA in Pedal Pushers, Guildford if you shop there, they have supported the magazine production costs.
